The challenges of grounding in constrained environments
Some environments make grounding complex, compromising the installation and effectiveness of conventional grounding solutions. Rocky terrain makes deep penetration more difficult, soils with low conductivity reduce the effectiveness of fault current dissipation, while densely built-up urban areas require adaptation to the lack of available space. All these constraints call for specific grounding equipment.
To anticipate these technical challenges as effectively as possible, it's important to carry out earthing network dimensioning before starting work.
Solutions for difficult terrain
MALTEP offers specific solutions to ensure reliable earthing, whatever the site constraints:
Copper grounding grids and plates
Ideal for dissipating current in soil whose hardness prevents deep penetration with stakes. They allow the load to be dissipated over a larger surface area.
Ensures robust, long-lasting connections between the conductors making up the ground loop, or to connect them to grounding grids and plates.
Use of specific products to improve the conductivity of resistive soils and guarantee effective grounding.
Special cases
Use of grounding grids and plates for surface dissipation, avoiding costly and inefficient drilling.
Use of conductive plates to save space compared with grounding by girdling with stakes
Selection of suitable materials (tin-plated copper, 316 stainless steel) for enhanced durability.
