EARTHING

Earthing system allows the electrical safety of buildings and electrical substations.

Process principle

What earthing is?

Earthing is an essential aspect of electrical construction and installation. It ensures the safety of your installations against lightning strikes, short-circuits and other fault currents. The ohmic resistivity level to be reached according to the NF C15-100 standard is 100 Ohms. This level can however vary according to the type of installation.

The difficulty in reaching the resistivity level will vary depending on the type of soil and its humidity. The soil should be equipped with a control device placed along the run to allow resistivity measurement. It should be placed directly above the protective sleeves.

It is also essential that your installations are at the same potential in order to avoid the formation of electric arcs and for the safety of people who may come into contact with them.

What earthing solutions do we offer?

MALTEP offers a wide range of earthing products allowing the conformity and safety of all types of installations. Whether it is conductors, clamps, equipotential earth bars, earth braids or earth electrodes such as earth rods, earthing grids and plates ; we offer all the material to be installed for a permanent and durable earthing.

To make a ground connection, the following equipment is required:

Application

How to make a good earthing?

Earth electrode

This method consists of installing an earth electrode at the end of your down conductor  to reach the required depth and ohmic resistance.

In the case of earthing with an earth rod : use an inspection pit for inspection and maintenance purposes. Drive the earth rod in the center of the inspection pit using the sledgehammer. The earth rod must be driven at least 2 meters deep to be effective. It should extend 15 to 20 cm above the ground, on average, depending on the size of the pit used.

Concrete steel structure

Achieved by connecting your main conductor  to the reinforcing bars via an earth terminal, clamps or an aluminothermic welding.

Earth Belts

Made with cable or tape conductor, this method consists in surrounding the foundations with conductor  placed in depth in order to dissipate the currents in the ground.

There are several methods of implementation for earthing. The materials required for each type of installation can be connected in different ways.
